Apollo Theatre - lugar do primeiro show profissional do Michael Jackson e tb do seu último show. 🤘🏻🖤🤩

This trip to New York, and being behind the scenes of the music industry has been an incredible roller coaster. For the past 7 days I’ve been told that there is no value in being honest, there is no worth in passion, & that heartfelt music is not marketable... I’ve been told constantly that I need to change my “image” or my social media in order to “make money”. Well... I refuse to be an internet clown or someone that I’m not. My music is for you all ... the ones who care ♥️. I’m blessed to have built a team with @phatphillie, @latinprince, and @glogowerpower to help navigate through this vicious music business ... we’ll make this thing work our way and with integrity. More music coming soon... produced by my dad @davecaton & Croatia’s @koolade.koolinout. We’ll always smile through challenges & take the high road. The support & love from everyone in each country makes this journey worth it .🌹 #choices
Peformed at the Apollo Theater and well... It's was definitely an experience. For those who don't know Apollo is know for it's "be good or be gone" audience. Grateful I placed 4th overall but definitely the toughest crowd I ever peformed for. Got alot of boos from people, made some mistakes in my routine. While I was peforming I had people booing, people were yelling "get off the stage" and I even saw some guy flip me off. And you know what I say to that? Bring it on. Nothing is gonna stop me from my dream. Next time I'm on that stage I'm turning those jeers in cheers. Until next time Apollo 😎😎😎 #dance#dancing#dancer#freestyle#freestyledance#freestyledancer#apollotheater#apollotheateramateurnight#bostaff

Pop Music: ‘I’m Black and I’m Proud’ at 50
Oct. 20; apollotheater.org. “We’d rather die on our feet than keep living on our knees,” James Brown said over the intoxicating funk groove of his 1968 single “Say It Loud — I’m Black and I’m Proud.” It was a sentiment that could hardly have felt more timely. Martin Luther King Jr. had just been murdered — with Mr. Brown famously quelling tensions at his concert in Boston the day following Dr. King’s death — and Huey P. Newton was in jail, as his Black Panther party found its biggest following. “Say It Loud,” released in the thick of the summer of ’68, was an instant anthem for Black Americans who felt like they were running out of options and just trying to survive.
Fifty years later, “Say It Loud” remains among the most important pieces of Mr. Brown’s legacy as well as a vital piece of American history. Fittingly, the Apollo Theater will commemorate the song’s significance with an all-star concert hosted by the Reverend Al Sharpton — a longtime friend of Mr. Brown’s — and musically directed by Christian McBride. A number of musicians from Mr. Brown’s ensembles will be featured in the house band, including Alfred “Pee Wee” Ellis (co-author of “Say It Loud”), Fred Wesley and Robert “Mousey” Thompson. Tickets are half-price for those who can provide proof of Harlem residence. NATALIE WEINER
Last night was a special one.
The @thenyff Premiere of Barry Jenkins screen adaptation of James Baldwin’s “If Beale Street Could Talk” @bealestreet at the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem.
It is such an honour to be a part of this ensemble cast to bring this timely and important story of Harlem Love to the screen. It was an honour to work with Barry, a hero of mine, who is the epitome of humility, class, grace, delicacy and creative instinct, an actors dream. It was an honour to bring James Baldwin’s work to life. James’s writing brings you face to face with the truth - often a truth and reality that is hard to face - with an economy of words and eloquence still unrivalled. This is an important moment in cultural history and last night it was beautiful to be with so many Baldwin Family members to celebrate this moment and converse together. 🙏🏼

Wrapped up working this past week from Manhattan by visiting the world famous Apollo Theater. Blew my mind to learn the Apollo Theater debuted Motortown Revue — including artists like The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and Stevie Wonder... not too shabby of a lineup 😳
