So excited and honored to run one of the most amazing races in the world next Patriots Day! Thanks to my parents and @yaneux for being there in Erie to cheer me to my BQ last week! AHHHH! I am HONORED to be selected to run the 2019 Boston Marathon for @samaritanshope, an organization dedicated to providing life saving suicide prevention services, in honor of my dad.
In Massachusetts, more than 600 people die by suicide each year. In May 2016, my dad was one of them. Today I strive to live a life that honors him, a life that he can watch from heaven and be proud.
I grew up going to the Boston Marathon and admired both my parents for running it (see pic #2 for my dad circa 1988). I NEVER thought this would be a possibility for me to do because, well, yeah running 26.2 miles is A LOT. But I am committed to this. I am committed to training every day in honor of my dad and others who are struggling with their own mental health. Life is too precious to be ended voluntarily.
Here is your warning that I’ll be posting about this A LOT until April 2019 to help me raise $8000 so unfollow now or forever hold you peace. But honestly, this cause is important and more people than you think struggle so stick with me 😊 #YearOfYes#suicideawareness#BostonMarathon2019
It’s a big week for so many runners!!🏃🏻♀️🏃♂️.... It’s Boston marathon registration time! 🦄💛💙
I’m having a lot of FOMO about 2019 Boston marathon, but I’ve decided with mixed feelings that I will not register for my spot to run. It’s a lot of commitment, planning, travel and hotel costs. I think it’s best I sit this one out and my heart isn’t fully in it😔
I could register and decide if I want to run, but I feel like that might be a selfish decision because someone else could be wanting that spot that I secure and might not be able to run their dream come true to run this years Boston Marathon if I decided not to actually run it.
It’s not confirmed that I would get in but I did have a 7:59 buffer for my AG... I’m in the 40’s for new qualifications😂. So I feel like I would have a good chance but you never know because it’s a competitive world out there🙌🏻
I have some new plans and goals for this winter. Naples Half marathon in January and I’ve decided to sign up for the @gcm_toledo Marathon and want to work hard to PR there with hopes that I can run Boston 2020! I’ve taken a break from running but I feel a SLOW itch to come back and tie up those laces and hit the treadmill to train my heart out! I wish everyone who’s qualified for Boston the best of luck! Remember if for some reason you don’t get in, don’t let it kill you! Remember you are still a BOSTON QUALIFIER!! You totally rock and be proud of your hard work and accomplishments🙌🏻😘
