Here’s a press release on the tires/tyres on Case’s Project Tetra concept wheel loader from Bauma 2019⠀
The concept wheel loader is compatible with the full range of tire solutions to ensure efficient working in all construction environments. In order to spotlight the key role tire technology plays in machine productivity, the CNH Industrial and MICHELIN® design teams worked in partnership to develop a vision for a future airless tire. This cutting edge design foresees a fusion of the tire/wheel combination and features inbuilt suspension. Furthermore, thanks to its pure rubber and patented composite material construction, it has been designed to withstand the extreme conditions present in construction environments, and could be considered indestructible. ⠀
The tire’s honeycomb spoke design is lightweight yet robust and thanks to its bespoke asymmetric tread pattern traction, motricity and grip are significantly improved. The tripod blocks on the inner tread section enhance overall operational stability, as well as assisting turning performance. The airless tires reduce overall machine weight and its large footprint delivers low contact pressure. The striking edge bumpers improve overall tire robustness as well as enhancing protection for extended life. Advanced connectivity is foreseen with integrated sensors providing a stream of real-time data to both the operator and the control room – including a tire wear sensor. When active, the integrated sidewall lights are illuminated, which also function as an additional safety feature. ⠀
Combining a modern, ergonomic and intuitive operator environment, with sustainable, proven, readily available powertrain technology, advanced digital and autonomous elements, and MICHELIN tire expertise, the CASE methane-powered wheel loader concept ‘ProjectTETRA’, represents a viable future for efficient, productive and sustainable construction. ⠀
Started a landscaping project for my parents this weekend. All my fun pieces of equipment ive made worked awesome!! The self propelled yard kart saved the day for sure. Tons of power and capacity. #outdoors#diy#smallengine#backhoe#wheelbarrow
Throwback to one of our projects in Weston, MA. The homeowners bought just about everything you could install under your kitchen cabinet and they still have room for storage...thanks to a clean install 👍🏽 #darbmechanical 🛠
Liebherr’s R9200E electric face shovel was nice to see at Bauma. Liebherr kindly let me up into the cab during a demonstration to take a video which will be on the Awesome Earthmovers YouTube channel soon. .
The electric driven R 9200 E was developed to meet the high demands of the mining industry of the future. In combination with the patented Liebherr Litronic Plus System for intelligent performance monitoring, the R 9200 E achieves super fast cycle times of sometimes under 20 seconds.
Last year I posted a video of SG Curry’s Kobelco excavators cleaning out drains in a peat bog. A lot of “experts” questioned why the wet peat removed from the drains was put in piles between the drains and not taken away by dump truck. Here’s the answer in this short clip. It’s eventually levelled by a @liebherrconstruction dozer and left to dry in readiness for the Summer peat harvest.
If you look very carefully at this photo you might notice something. There’s a small object on the very top of the stick and that happens to be my GoPro Fusion 360 camera. .
I always like to do something different as I’m a great believer in moving forward rather than stagnating and doing the same old thing time and time again. .
Firstly I didn’t have a magnet mount that got the 360 camera far enough away from the stick. Anyone who uses 360 cameras knows that a video won’t stitch together right if an object gets too close. The only viable alternative I had was my suction cup. .
Using the suction cup on paint is a big risk considering the chance of it falling off and the fact that just the slightest bit of damage to a GoPro Fusion lens makes the camera a write off. .
So how did the video turn out? The camera stayed on but was unfortunately a little too close to the subject, and the stitching was a bit off. With that lesson learned I’ll need to make myself a custom magnet mount around 12 to 15 inches long and give it another shot when the opportunity arises.
Cleaning the whole place up took me an entire week! While Sam worked on plumbing our friendly neighbor helped me stash all the clutter and hide our storage container. Of course by the end of it all Sam got excited and joined our cause...I think this makes us official - Dooms Day Preppers here we come 😱💪🏽🤣#diylife#samsung
The SR 99 tunneling machine, nicknamed Bertha, is the world's largest tunneling machine. Her work is completed on WSDOT's Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program, where she traveled 2 miles beneath downtown starting back in 2013. This photo was taken in 2015. The view looking up at Bertha’s cutterhead from the bottom of the access pit.

Stopped by a few supplier booths and came across this at Danfoss. It represents a next generation hydraulic pump architecture and they call it a Digital Displacement Pump. It is an extremely efficient and responsive pump; Danfoss has done testing on excavators showing large fuel consumption and productivity improvements. The Digital Displacement team tell me we will be seeing them on many other Off Highway machines starting in 2019, Watch this space!
