Bjarne Melgaard started out in the mid 1990s with a new expressionistic, frantic style of painting, sculpture and installation. His art deals with the dark side of humanity such as self-destruction, deviant sexuality and other religious beliefs. Often discussing, investigating and pushing the boundaries of social acceptance - it provides an insight into subcultures and parallel worlds that exist alongside the world of normality. Melgaard will be on view at the fair with Bohman-Knäpper. #bjarnemelgaard#nordicart#marketartfair#market2019@bohmanknapper
💬’Virtual reality is a very new and puzzling environment – it’s a breakout of traditional structures into something that no one can totally predict.' 💬

Cartoonish figures, rendered on a monumental scale, gaze out at the viewer against vibrant backgrounds, as rapidly executed strokes of paint flit and flicker across the surface. #christies#bjarnemelgaard obsessed with his colors. Only $20k
Bjarne Melgaard: En ost på en sydhavsøy og Chill Out med Kristina Lugn (BGE Contemporary)⠀
A couple of solid paintings in this show with the ink drawings the most consistently high quality. Oddly enough, the best paintings were not in the main exhibition room, but spaced out in the additional upstairs area.⠀
The pricing? Let's call it "ambitious".⠀

The artist's forthcoming immersive VR work, My Trip, is still a work in progress but will be exhibited and on our app later this year. Stand by for further updates...
