Easy 5 miles this morning followed by a selfie sesh with this cheeseball! Went back and forth yesterday on whether to do my long run this morning or tomorrow. It was supposed to be pouring rain all morning today so I decided to do it on Sunday, but of course when I woke up the rain chances were down to 10% all morning and it has not in fact rained hardly at all. But I mentally was not ready to run long this morning! So shorter and super easy run today, long tomorrow. #marathontraining#weatherforecastfail#runnersofinstagram#motherrunner#boymom#effortbasedtraining#runhappy

When Melia launched her first book, The Heroines Club, many mothers of sons said, "Hurray! But what about our boys?" This book is the powerful and inspiring answer to that.
Pre-orders are now open for The Hero's Heart, which officially launches on April 11th, 2019.
Pre-order now… and your copy will be dispatched on April 2nd. All pre-orders purchased through Womancraft Publishing before April 1st, 2019 will be entered to win (3 winners) a 1-hour Skype coaching session with the book's author to support your mother-son Hero's Heart journey.
About the Book
The Hero’s Heart is boots-on-the-ground activism on behalf of our boys. A revolutionary twelve-month journey for mothers and sons, ages 9+, to explore the core values and themes our boys need most. It is a groundbreaking new approach to raising healthy, compassionate, and emotionally intact young men in the current culture of toxic masculinity.
With genuine encouragement and invaluable insight, Melia inspires mothers to create the intentional communities, character-shaping opportunities, and rite-of-passage experiences that adolescent boys crave. The Hero’s Heart is a gift to anyone involved in raising or nurturing boys.
The Hero’s Heart contains everything you need to create an intentional community in which your son will thrive, and where you as his mother will find support.
The curriculum offers a tried and tested practical template, resources, thought-provoking discussion questions, inspiring activities, and simple rituals on topics such as:
• Challenging Gender Stereotypes and Discrimination
• Expressing Feelings in Healthy Ways
• Being a Peacebuilder and Heroic Friend
• Navigating Peer Pressure
• Understanding and Honoring Sex and Puberty.
The Heroines Club and The Hero's Heart are more than just books; they are a movement.

My whole heart!❤️ As you can see, this baby STILL loves being in his rock n’ play!🤗 I remember getting this rock n’ play at our baby shower and I *never* would have guessed that we would be using it as much as we do. But, from the time we brought Jackson home from the hospital to now, he loves being in this rocker and we are thankful for it!🙌🏽 #jacksonjames#sleepingbaby#thatsdarling#holdthemoments#thisismotherhood
bragged about his sleeping skills yesterday + forgot to knock on wood. parenting: humbling me since 2018. luckily this little sunshine boy is coming in hot with cheesy grins today to make up for it 😻 #ourleoaugust
It’s this smiley guys due date today 🌟Feb 23rd🌟... but he’s already been with us for 12 days and I cannot imagine my life without my Logie-Bear 🐻 .
I was actually going to be induced on Valentine’s Day because my placenta levels were a little low and my OB thought it was best to get him out earlier but he still wanted to come on his own time so...Feb 11th it was❤️
I had the best labour and delivery — a stark contrast to the traumatic labour I had with Jackson🤨
I lost my mucus plug on Sunday and by Monday my water started leaking. I took my time, showered, washed my hair and did my make up 💁🏻♀️😆 and off the hospital we went. I was already 1.5 cm dilated so they kept me in. Contractions started by noon and I got the epidural at 4:30pm...ahhhh it was amazing and a luxury compared to my labour with Jax😖 .
I ended up still feeling the contractions on my left side but it was sooooo much more comfortable. I moved pretty fast from there. I started pushing at 6:25pm and Logan was born at 6:35pm. My hubby played music 🎶 for the pushing — Whitney Huston “How Will I Know” ...I have no idea why he chose that song😆 .
I did 4 rounds of pushes and Mini-Jackson with a bum chin was born 👶🏻💙
We’ve all adjusted as a family of 4 and there’s definitely more crazy and tiring days but I wouldn’t change a thing!! .
I’ve waited for my rainbow baby for over 2 years and I’m so thankful he’s finally with us 👨👩👦👦 #loganvanpe
⚠️ LONG POST: I am afraid to go out in public by myself with both my toddlers. I said it 🤷🏽♀️
And that doesn’t mean we don’t go out. We do! We have favorite places like the Library @lblibraryny and @costco (two seater shopping carts 🙌🏼) We run other errands AND have impromptu lunch dates (😬 ⬅️ this is often my face). BUT going out with both my boys feels like a total gamble! 🎲
I have most definitely run out of a store with both toddlers under my arms completely embarrassed (and overwhelmed) 🤦🏽♀️😭 And fear of that overwhelm definitely makes hiding out inside our home more appealing. BUT it also makes successful ‘adventures’ SO much sweeter!
Last week after the boys spent the morning at @seasidecelebrations_, we took an afternoon stroll through the West End of #lbny before heading home (despite that little voice in my head reminding me how badly it could go ... exciting morning - no naps - afternoon ... am I painting the picture?!)!
STILL we ventured into @thecodfishcowboy for the COOLEST #bathbombs, even though I feared Billy might take down the whole place 🐂🤣#bullinachinashop ... and then grabbed a window seat at @acaibeachbowlslb for some “Purple Ice Cream” 🍦
Look it could’ve gone SO sideways BUT the boys were great, the time spent was SO enjoyable, and it felt AHmazing to be out and about just enjoying our City! What’s my point?!?
DON’T feel guilty if you hide inside with your toddlers sometimes because it feels easier ... I have been there with you! BUT don’t sacrifice doing the things you want to do ... a stroll around town, a lunch out, a shopping spree ... because you fear the WHAT IF! And if your toddlers totally meltdown in public, there is NO judgement here! #momlife#thejuggleisreal
Underneath is my plans, hopes, and sewing dreams. On top my weekend sewing reality. There were tears when this dog (p-dawg is his name) sprung a hole last night before bed. So fixing that hole was the highest priority this morning. And the iron on patches for scouts don't hold so sewing those on before the #boyscouts event this afternoon is also high on the list. So my pretty fabrics and quilting dreams have gone away for the day. Real life calls but I will be back for these pretty things soon! <--- the lie I tell myself!!! #reallifesewing#isew#stuffedanimalrepair#sewallthethings#sewing#sewsewsew#easysewing#momlife#boymom
Did you guys know my sister is a mechanic? She gets down and dirty fixing heavy machinery but she also cleans up alright if you want to take her on a date. She’s surprisingly funny and great company. (Jk about the date thing, she has a bf 🤷🏽♀️)
🌎Okay, world, who is up this Saturday morning feeling healthy, strong and ready for their day?.
.✨I know I am! I’m drinking my pre to get me going👊🏻, wearing boots to stay warm and I’m about to push play on the final workout of a 6 week fitness program I’ve been doing and I can’t wait! Sound weird to you? This would have been weird to me too! But I’ve made some lifestyle changes over the past year and the overall good feels I get from my workouts makes me super excited to get going!.
.🙋♀️Who else is feeling this way? Share the excitement with me🤩
In all honesty I wasn’t sure what to expect traveling with 15 high school young men... let me tell you this crew is 💯! Humble, fun, outgoing, polite, respectful, ELITE. I see absolutely NO DEVISION among them. That’s pretty incredible if you ask me. If you are a parent of one of these young men high 🖐🏼 yourself today because you’re doing an incredible job. Parenting is not easy & not for the weak... caring for and being responsible for 15 mom’s sons is not for the weak either LOL but, this bunch makes it a privilege! Please take a minute to say a Prayer or send positive vibes for our @valley_elite15 Ohana today! We are competing in @pylon7on7 Las Vegas National Showcase today and tomorrow- our games today: 9:30,10 & 10:30. #provethemwrong#blessed#nanakuli#valleyelite#boymom#pylon7on7#football#college
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up.
When the doctor instructs you to “relax, be stress free, and take it easy this weekend”...but you’re a chronic over-thinker and workaholic, you roll on some Stress Away, say a prayer, and move really slowly in between tasks 😂 Little guys room is pretty much done, I’m editing the last of the galleries I have to send out, and planning on a chill date night with the hubs - Big Mama’s got this ✌🏼😬💆🏻♀️
Holy freaking crap I did it 🤸🏼♂️🦄 Through Carson’s surgery, his birthday, finding out I was pregnant, dealing with all day sickness 😳🙄 loss, and going out of town. The last 6 weeks I had a lot of mental struggles. It was a lot of pushing past excuses...it was a lot of change. But everyday I showed up because I committed to MYSELF. 🖤
Shaun always has the words to say when you need to hear them, his motivation helps to push you past your own limiting beliefs....to change your I can’t do this to I CAN freaking do this...to focus on your mindset and to be the best version of you, for you. And although his programs can be challenging...they truly are for anyone (praise hands for modifiers 😂) and they truly do ... TRANSFORM your life from the inside out. I will say it’s so weird not having my typical transformation picture but I’m totally fine with it because baby bumps are cute 🤷♀️😍 My girls have already started sending in their transformation pictures to me and it makes me so excited! I can’t wait to share some of them with you guys! Whose ready for round 2 with us?! 🖤
Y’all... Nashville is seriously flooding right now! We are so ready for some sunshine around here ☀️ Not to mention, there are apparently going to be tornadoes later today 😩 Running our errands early today and then staying home the rest of the day! I hope y’all have a great weekend!
We’re attending State Wrestling this weekend and staying at a hotel. After a busy week and long Friday we’re all pretty tired. Arriving at the hotel after 11, we had hoped to sleep in. With 5 of us in one room - 2 boys with coughs, a husband who removes his ‘sleep machine’ multiple times a night (at least he remembered to bring it), one kid who is a snorer and then me who is the lightest sleeper known to man and usually anytime I’m awake after 4:30 am, I’m up - sleeping in would be a challenge. Shockingly, we all had a pretty good night and everyone was still sleeping soundly at 6:30 when I woke briefly and easily went back to sleep. Then the hotel alarm
clock goes off at 7. I fumble around with it because no one else even seems to notice it. I hit the snooze button to silence it, then continue to fumble to find the switch to turn it off. After a bit, I decide to just unplug it, which is no easy feat at a hotel where outlets are always hard to reach and you’re trying to be ‘stealthy’ so as not to wake 4 other people! Finally I find it and without glancing at the clock again, I lay back down and try to fall asleep. After a few minutes, I start wondering if there’s a back up battery and that alarm is going to go off anyway...someone coughs...someone starts rolling around...I don’t move a muscle or even crack open an eye to sneak a peak at the clock to see if it’s still on. You moms probably can relate...remember those days when you had a sick little one or just one that was hard to get to sleep. Once they slept you’d DO or NOT DO pretty much anything to keep them sleeping, right? This was kind of like that! Well, sure enough another minute passes and that alarm goes off again... a battery back up. In the dark, I grab it, wanting only to throw it across the room or smash it, hit the snooze AGAIN, then very quietly feel my way (it’s pitch dark in our room) around the clock finding the battery compartment and yank that battery out! Now there is for sure no way I’m going back to sleep (and I didn’t), but my family slept soundly til 8:40 and Samuel brought me breakfast in bed! It’s a win in my book!
Bumpdate: Week 35 🤰🏻💙 First of all - HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that took the time to wish me a happy birthday this past Wednesday! My 35th year on earth seems like a nice, round, non-geriatric number for beginning this exciting new chapter, right? 😬 Honestly though, I wouldn’t change a thing about the timing. We’ve been blessed to live an incredible life up until now and it’s only going to keep getting sweeter with this new addition! ☺️ Anyway, this week has been a bit of a challenge, due in large part to the crazy weather changes last week that have given me a lovely head cold. 🤧 My doc recommended lots of rest and fluids, a bit of plain Tylenol, and plain Robitussin if I really felt I needed it. So needless to say, sleep and rest have not been easy to come by as I’m coughing and snorting and mouth breathing all day long. 🤪 Here’s hoping my poor immune system gets a break soon!
As for our little guy, he’s getting bigger by the day and we are getting SO excited to finally meet him! He’s approximately 18 inches and 5 lbs this week - definitely making himself known as he rolls around in there! He’s head down and very much engaged, as I’m feeling a great deal of pressure in my lower abdomen than before. Most days consist of wearing compression socks and my belly support band to keep discomfort and swelling at a minimum. But really, he’s taken it pretty easy on me up until now so I don’t mind - especially since the outcome will be the best gift EVER! 👶🏻💙 In other news, we’re combining our last big adulting task of buying a new mommy mobile with a babymoon to one of our favorite cities, Cleveland! Kind of awesome that our very first getaway when we were first dating was to Cleveland, and now we are here for our last trip as just a couple. 👫 We got into town last night and treated ourselves to a Polish feast of pierogi, stroganoff, and paprikash at Sokolowski’s. 🤤 Now we are headed out today to visit some dealerships and find our new car! Wish us luck! 🤞🏻🚘 #momtobe#thirdtrimester#bumpdate#boymom#35weekspregnant#cle#babymoon
Mr. dramatic over here was so excited to see #snow. He yelled, was running around like crazy and did all this talk of how he was going to hit all the girls with #snowballs. He got one little ball together took a bite of it then complained of how cold it was for the next 30min and never got the courage to get more snowballs together to throw at his sisters 😂 #arizonakidproblems I didn’t have the heart to tell him how much colder it is where the real snow falls lol #judesebastianjames

Take it. 📸 Take the picture. Even though your hair hasn’t been washed in 3 days... maybe 4 🤷🏼♀️ With no make up and the side effects of motherhood smeared all over your face. Because yours kids, they don’t care how you look. They don’t know the same beauty we know, society hasn’t ruined them yet. The beauty they see comes straight from within you, you are nothing short of perfect to your children, their love is not vain. So take the picture at 6am when they woke up way earlier than you were hoping for and you look like the hottest mess around but you wouldn’t change a thing because they are your favorite part of life and these moments deserve to be captured 💜💙
