Has anyone ever used the phrase “¡Qué padre!” to proclaim “How cool!” re: basically anything in their lives? 🙋🏽♀️ I know I have.
Example in a conversation:
Them: Te traje tacos. 🌮🌮🌮
Me: ¡Qué padre, gracias!
A very special group of young women in the Eastern Coachella Valley has decided to redirect and deconstruct language that is centuries old.
And so “¡Qué Madre!” was born. When basically everything has roots in the patriarchy, even phrases that proclaim excitement and positivity - our young storytellers decided to make the phrase their own.
We are a media collective that is giving young womxn and gender non-conforming folks the opportunity to express themselves in a safe space and to share their stories, as they are the experts in their communities and lives.
