💚✨Meet your creator✨💚
¡Hola! My name is Natalia 🌻and I run the show for my CEO daughter Camila. My amazing husband and I gave birth to the smiliest baby on the planet✨. I’m a maestra 🍎but have shifted paths this year and became a stay-at-home Mamá. I always dreamed of staying home with my babies and Diosito blessed me with such a hardworking husband that supports all my crazy ideas (opening a small business was my current crazy episode😜) I am a proud Latina who is in touch with her Mexican heritage todo el tiempo👌🏽I’m a CSUB 💛💙alumni who relocated to Porterville. My family is my pride and joy. I’m an introvert but can definitely break out of my shell once I feel comfortable 👍🏽I’m a coffee drinker ☕️and I never reject a nap. I never dress up unless I have to (t-shirts, yoga pants, and mom-bun). Hamburgers 🍔are my go-to-comida. If you ever come over to my hogar, you will be serve a plate of my comida and you can’t leave until it’s limpio🐷 (I might throw in a Cantarito with my favorite tequila in it🤘🏽😜). •
I began Cami’s Cookie Jar as a hobby while staying at home. I wanted to work from home and with support from my amazing friends and family, I decided that this would be it🍪I’ve always baked for my family, but never thought it would be something I would branch out. I’m so grateful for all the support y’all have brought to my small business🙌🏽I have so much growth ahead of me, I think this is something I can say I am proud of👏🏽Muchas gracias de todo corazón 🤘🏽❤️ #royalicingcookies#decoratedsugarcookies#customcookies#porterville#localbusiness#smallbusiness#beginner#beginnerlevelcookier#cookier#familybusiness#onecookieatatime

REAL LIFE: DOUBLE CHECK THE FLOUR
Last weekend I decided not to go with my husband and daughter to Charlottesville to cheer on the NCAA championship winning 🧡💙UVA💙🧡basketball 🏀 team. Instead I decided to stay home and work on dough making and cutting cookies. I spent 7 or 8 hours- measuring and mixing dry ingredients, making dough, rolling dough and cutting hundreds of cookies. I mixed, rolled, and cut 8 double batches of dough. I was actually getting ahead of schedule- which never happens. 👏👏👏 My plan was to bake all the carrot 🥕 shaped cookies that night. When I pulled the first tray of carrot cookies out the oven I knew immediately something was terribly wrong. 😱 My cookies did not resemble the original carrot shape. Instead they looked like an oblong, puffy blob. Maybe it was a fluke? So I baked the next tray. 🤞 Same result. 😵 Then it hit me! Was it possible that I could have mistakenly bought self rising flour instead of all purpose flour and used it in my dough? 🤦♀️ I looked at the bag of leftover flour and yep..... self rising flour. 😱😤🤦♀️ It all had to be thrown in the trash. I wanted to cry! All that time I had spent- wasted! All that money I had spent on butter🤑, vanilla🤑, and other ingredients- WASTED!!! I wanted to scream as much as I wanted to cry.
I proudly post my most perfect cookies, but I want everyone reading this to know not everything is always perfect in my kitchen. The baking life, just like real life, is usually far from perfect. I have had lots of kitchen disasters over my cookie decorating years. Sometimes I cry, sometimes I get angry, sometimes I go to bed, but I always learn from my mistakes. I have learned much more from my hard mistakes than from my easy successes. So what did I learn from this mistake? I’ve learned I need to slow down a little bit during my ingredient buying. Lesson learned- DOUBLE CHECK THE FLOUR. I can promise you I’ll never make that mistake again. .
So if you are new to cookie decorating or new to anything you care about and you make a mistake or have a disaster- give up! Learn from your disaster, dig in, and keep going. It won’t be easy but it will be worth it.
