“Din Tai Fung” has just opened a new branch at Great World City, so we decided to beat the shorter queue there. The fried rice with shredded pork & egg is a simple comfort food to me! The fluffy rice with the fragrant egg really deserve a compliment! However, the signature Xiao Long Bao or steamed pork dumpling was a disappointment. Although the skin was still thin, but the meat was little & not succulent with a rich flavourful broth. The braised beef noodle soup without the beef meat was way over priced at $9.80 as it was a superbly plain dish! Noodle soup with shrimp pork dumpling was equally not flavourful & the steam chicken soup with noodles was a tad too oily. The service staff at the front register counter was not friendly & when I repeatedly asked for a hot water refill for our tea pot, the service staff did not serve us, but instead went twice to a table near us serving cold water to a foreigner family. The food and service standards here are really a far cry from the stores that I have visited in Taipei & Hong Kong! Hope they make an effort to improve to uphold the restaurant brand name. #kopifrens#kpffood#sgfood#dintaifung#xiaolongbao#friedrice#wontonnoodles#chickensoupnoodles#braisedbeefnoodles
So what are your must-orders at Din Tai Fung (@dintaifungsg)?
For us, these are the essentials and no visit to DTF is complete without them.

I swear that DTF secretly cultivate their own rice grains on some secret Shangri-la-ish mountains and they water the plant with water from the morning dew. Each rice pearl is so plump, fat and full of moisture. It's not oily, and each mouthful is just a reminder why the queue is so worth it. In fact, sometimes I suspect that I'm there for the fried rice instead of the XLB!
