I remember when I was the shy girl in school. I loved to paint and draw and I was actually REALLY good at it. I told my mom I wanted to be an artist when I grew up and she told me artists didn’t make any money so I kinda gave up on it. Kids would bully me at school because I was quiet and told me I was too nice. I remember I found this big jug of yellow paint and decided to draw a huge sun on my wall and my stepfather told me I was weird. I loved to read books. I would literally get lost in my books. I liked the idea of wizards and magic. I had this one wizard book and would try to cast magic spells! I was actually raised in a super religious home and wanted to just paint my nails and wear different clothes but my dad would punish me for it. I always just different. I wanted different things. I questioned things, I was kind, I was this curious little being. The moral to the story is that the world can be so cruel and maybe it toughened you up just enough so that you can stand up for yourself but you lose who you TRULY are. Everyone is born as this creative, imaginative, colorful, and curious little being and we are told we need to be different all the time. School systems numb you. The modern workplace makes you dull. We are told to forget about our dreams. We are told we need to just sit still and do soul sucking work. The world may make you feel like you are crazy for thinking outside of the box but it is they who are crazy! Practical is just another word for afraid. Go back to your inner child. I encourage you to dance, paint, kiss, touch, feel again. Who were you before the world told you who to be?
