I had this vanilla milkshake earlier on a walk along the beach with my parents as it's sooo hot! It was a bit of a challenge but I did enjoy it. Not feeling too great this evening, not even had dinner yet but I'm already guilty for it? I think I might just be over tired so I'm going to try to get an early night, let's see how successful that is.
Also a reminder than dairy products are important for your body (or vegan dairy) the calcium makes your bones strong and less likely to break and Ice cream is delicious not scary. Have a milkshake once in a while it will do you more good than harm.

Why are you eating what you are eating?

This question was a no brainer a few years ago:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
❋ Because it is “healthy”
❋ Because I am trying to lose weight
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But through my experience, I have learned how limiting and all consuming abiding to those answers are. How little room that gave me for foods I actually enjoyed without guilt following shortly after. Leading with that mindset took up SO MUCH SPACE in my brain and lead me to not only obsessing over food but completely separating my “mind knows best mentality” from the cues my body was sending.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today the answers to that question could look like this:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
❋ Because it makes my body feel energized, full, and fueled to do what I need to do today
❋ For pleasure
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over time I have learned to use that question to understand what kind of foods my body wants/needs at any given moment (and to not follow that ask with a “good/bad” label). Sometimes it is a green packed vegan burrito and sometimes it is a pizza with a shit ton of cheesy goodness. Whatever it is, I know it is going to satisfy what my body needs at that moment (and yes sometimes it means eating for pleasure).

Because why force yourself to eat foods you truly don’t like just to fulfill the fear of what will happen if you don’t? Why use foods as replacements if you just want the food you are trying to replace it with?

Everything is information. Take note of how your body feels before, during, and after you eat. Use HOW YOU FEEL to determine your food choices, not what you are “supposed to be doing.” Because in the end, your body knows best and we only get one chance on this earth so let your food be fun, not a chore ♡

Okayyy so yesterday was alot... and when I say alot I mean ALOT. I spoke with the eating disorder specialist and she told me all these things about ED and ANA. I'm not eating 3 meals... and 3 snacks in a day... which is scary... but I have motivation to get better and if I keep it up i know i can do it. I began the 3 and 3 yesterday. I unfortunately didnt take any pictures because I needed to stay away from calculating calories so I'll tell you here.

Breakfast-💜
Oatmeal (same as today)

1/2 protein bar
Lunch- ❤
2 toast with mayo, lettuce, bacon and Tomato with a macaroon treat ( fear foods) 
Snack #2-💕
1 whole apple with honey yogurt and cheese
Dinner- 💚
Shepherd's pie with Turkey and REAL potatoes ( BIG fear food )
Dessert- 💙
2 scoops of ice cream with berries ( I'll show in my story )
Snack #3💕
Meat, cheese, and crackers with avacado and jelly

Zucchini Protein Bread
•
2 large eggs
150g (1 1/4 cups) gluten-free oat flour
56g (1/2 cup) almond flour
50g (2 scoops) @idealfit Vanilla Protein Powder
24g (6 tsp) coconut sugar
42g (2 Tbsp) pure honey
113g (1/2 cup) nonfat plain greek yogurt
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
140g shredded zucchini
.
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and spray a 9 x 5 inch bread pan with cooking spray.
2. In a medium mixing bowl, mix oat flour, almond flour, protein powder, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
3. In a large mixing bowl, lightly beat the eggs until egg yolks break apart. Whisk in honey, coconut sugar, greek yogurt, and vanilla extract until smooth.
4. Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture and mix until combined. Fold in shredded zucchini.
5. Transfer the batter to the prepared bread pan, spreading batter out evenly. Cover bread pan with aluminum foil. Baked for 30-35 minutes covered. Remove aluminum foil and bake for additional 5-10 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean.

Happy FRIDAY!! 🤩 Haven’t posted a #selfie in a while so just popping in to say hi! 👋🏻. Little rant for the day: COMPARISON. Recently I’ve been comparing myself to so many people around me, especially family and friends. It can be extremely frustrating watching people (especially those who are not “into fitness”) lose weight so easily just by making small changes. As petty as this sounds, it’s been really bothering me mentally. As someone who tracks everything to the T, works out 6 days a week (vigorously), and has been doing this for 6 years, it can feel unfair to not see a single change. Meanwhile it feels like others only put in half the work but reap more of the benefits. I’m aware this is a toxic way of thinking, especially because everyone is different and their bodies respond differently. I’ve been chronically dieting and over exercising for 6 years so it’s stupid of me to compare myself to people who are just starting their fitness journey. I am trying to eliminate this negativity, but I know I cant be the only one who’s gone through something like this. So if this caption hits home for any of you then just know you are not alone! Fats play a HUGE role in the body, just like all the other major nutrients. Sure, fats are more calorically dense (higher in calories) than carbs and proteins, but they are just as important.

Fats are the reason that you are able to absorb a lot of vitamins and nutrients in your diet. Without adequate fat in your everyday meals, you would not be able to absorb vitamins A,E,D, and K! -
Just like carbs there are going to be some fats are a slightly better for you than others, and the ones are are not as nutrient dense, just eat those in moderation. Its ok to cook your food in some oil (avocado, olive, coconut, or veggie), or add avocado to your salad or toast

Spaghetti & meatless-meatballs 🍝🥦 this was LUSH!! 😋 using the Plant Kitchen meatballs & my mums homemade tomato sauce 👌🏻 Just perfect! 🍓Enjoying the sweetness of strawberries, cream, and cake, becomes rather difficult when everyone in your company converses about the guilt they feel for indulging, or the guilt they do not feel, because this dessert is ‘airy’ and ‘light.’

🍰In this moment, I wanted this cake more than anything. I was so looking forward to it. I wasn’t going to allow their negative comments to ruin this delectable dessert for me.

🍴A few years ago, these comments would have obliterated any chance of my eating this dessert. As I have grown and begun to embrace intuitive eating, I have learned that the majority of the world holds a very different mindset than my current one. They are in the same mindset that I had in the throes of my eating disorder.

✨For the last year, I have been in a bubble, surrounding myself with positive role models around body image and food. This bubble has blinded me from the fact that the majority of the world lives outside of my shinny bubble, and are resistant the idea that calories are not evil and your body is meant to be flawed.

🔑 We can’t control what others say or do, but we can control how we contribute to these conversations. It’s difficult to constantly be on edge, ready to call out the bullshit when you see it. It’s exhausting. Finding a balance between calling people out and giving yourself a chance to breathe, is key. I hope I find that key soon!

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything so naturally blue in all my life. Especially since I was told blue raspberry isn’t actually a thing 😂 I had spirulina for the first time in my smoothie bowl today and it was so freaking good. It’s possible I now have super powers. At least I feel like I could run another marathon. Actually doing it is probably a whole different thing. Mac had an açaí bowl...but kids...the thing came with coconut 🥥 and chia seeds and all she wanted was strawberry 🍓and banana 🍌. Great combo...so who am I to argue?

We’re out of school for Good Friday ✝️ so I had a few extra min to whip these up - and actually TASTE them as I ate them. 😝

WHAT WENT DOWN:
• 1 whole egg

Cancer-fighting, anti-inflammatory diets. These hit home for me, obviously due to going through treatment with Thomas. Through my education & personal experience, I’ve seen first hand the power of a nutrient dense diet in preventing & fighting cancer. It’s SO important. I cook a ton for Thomas, because I love consciously creating meals that are packed full of alllll the herbs, spices, & foods that have been proven to be effective against this awful disease & that also make him feel awesome. It’s insane to me the power food has in the prevention of disease, so I preach it allll the time. Typically, we both eat plant-based diets & our diets are pretty similar, although he definitely consumes more grains than I do! That boy can EAT. 😂🤦‍♀️ but I figured it may be helpful for me to not only show you my meals, but his meals as well, just as even more healthy inspo 💕

-wild caught Salmon with garlic, chives, turmeric, parsley, & dill broiled in a little @primalkitchenfoods Avo oil
-a mix of sprouted & cauli rice
-sweet potatoes air fried with herbs
-arugula salad with peppers, microgreens, carrots, nutritional yeast, & a sprinkle of Brazil nuts (gotta get that selenium in!)
-homemade tahini sauce (mixture of @woodstockfoods tahini, smoked paprika, @yellowbirdsauce hot sauce, @sow.usa Chia oil, chives, parsley, cilantro, cumin, lemon, onion & garlic, & ACV)
Tip: if you follow a specific diet, to keep paleo, just stick to cauli rice! Vegan? Skip the salmon & swap it for a plant based protein! 💕
