LOVE this new public education campaign in nyc about #fatbergs. Fatbergs refers to the clogs that form in the sewer system from oils (fats) and “flushable” wipes that congeal together, forming an iceberg of sorts. These fatbergs are costly and dangerous to our sewage infrastructure, and most people are unaware of the threat or how they might be feeding it. So I’m very excited by this new public education campaign in NYC (but also where’s the public education campaign about recycling or composting @nycsanitation@nycmayorsoffice@nycmayor?)
Thank you so much to @rebeccadecz and @dominomag for this article about how we all can reduce our waste and divert more from landfills and incinerators. We spoke about composting, donating, gifting, and pulling reusable things out of the trash and recycling. I’m thrilled with the coverage! Thank you again

Opening March 3rd at our Matawan location! Transform: Moving Past Fear Towards Beauty is an exhibition of projected images and neon sculpture by Ellen Hanauer. The human condition of loss leaves scars behind — scars that produce fear of returning to the darkness. Through this exhibition, Hanauer teeters between fear and the universal desire for joyfulness, discovery and creative potential. This exhibition is open March 3rd-March 27th at 58-60 Main Street, Matawan, New Jersey. Viewing by appt only. Visit chashama.org/events for details. @ellenhanauersculptor

See this exhibition until Feb 23rd at Chashama’s 222 Bowery location, Wed-Sat, 2-8 PM, open until 9 PM this Friday and featuring a special closing repletion this Saturday from 6-9 PM, including literary readings with Cold Front Magazine. @justinwoodart

Opening This Friday! Chashama presents COLOR POP! By Laurie Rosenwald and Anders Wenngren. This art is a vote for beauty, for intelligence, for the sublime power of pure color. Aren’t we lucky to be able to see? Perhaps the most radical thing we can be in these dark times is cheerful. This exhibition is open Feb 22 until March 18th at our 21 Greenwich Ave location, Monday to Friday 5-8 PM, Saturday 11 AM- 7 PM and Sunday 12 PM-5 PM. Show is also viewable by appt.
