"Boys' day out"
Such a fun afternoon with my dear friend and his spunky 5-year-old boy at his first Toronto car show (first of many I'm sure!) Really felt honored to see the raw innocence and energy of a child. Like any little child, any question was met with one-word answers but by the end of the evening, we were having dialogues and teaching me a lot of things!
I marveled at his strong identity, curiosity and much more courage to try new things than I did at that age: he told me his favorite experience was exploring Virtual Reality at the #audi stand. Then, while his Dad stopped at a place to talk to a sales rep, the little guy made me dart behind him through the crowds to see all the shiny new #maserati, #alfaromeo, #mercedesbenz and #porsche .
As I helped him into a Chevy Malibu driver's seat, he sat for a second, looked at me quizzically, and asked, "why don't these have massage seats?" 😜..to which I responded, "Young man, you're asking the wrong person!"
Kids surprise you all the time.
On a side note, I have known his Dad since we were 10 years old, growing up half-way across the world, and through our lives as teens and adults, we have both had our ups and downs. Different hardships through our journeys, but we have always shared unconditional #support and #empathy whether it was personal strife or pain for someone else in our families. Now, I see a father pass these #values carefully on to his children, carrying on the #legacy instilled in him by his parents: one of non-judgment, compassion and selflessness.
It's true what they say that friendships are defined by the tough times, not the "fun times". For this, I am forever #grateful for my close #friends and #family, you are so much more than you think you are!
This morning, I barely slept 3 hours waking up many times throughout the night, and unable to sleep after 4am. I stayed up to watch the sunrise and thankfully, I could still attend this event with my friend and share a part of a growing child's memory. I'm sure he will thank his dad one day for this first experience. I will always think of him when I hear massage seats!
And tonight, I will sleep well. Good night and sweet dreams!
