I may be pushing the envelope here, but I want to get the voices out there who engage in recruitment and securing employees.
I have observed for sometime that the hiring process has gone through a face lift. Most if not all companies have an applicant tracking system (ATS) or it is outsourced.
However, my problem has been with the way people are being selected through such a system. I know it has provided a less labor intensive, consistent, tracking, and available process; but where is the human element.
There are so many good candidates who get side lined because they don't have the matching words or the best resume to match what the ATS is looking for.
I guess this is where a good resume building software comes in, but still there is a gap.
I want to get answers on the behalf the millions of people who have been put through the funnel process.
Does it really do justice?
Here are five Connection Point Thoughts on why we may need a HIRING SYSTEM REFORM:
1. Recommendations are still king.
2. Interviews are dead. We need more conversations.
3. Resumes look good, but candidates don't match up.
4. We are slowly losing the human out of human resources.
5. We will soon not need recruiters...🤯 They too will need to evolve.

I remember being in a job that I hated. Looking back, I realize that I no longer felt a connection to the work. The job duties had changed, and I wasn’t enjoying it. It became a grind.
As a result, I didn’t feel successful. I knew I wasn’t producing my best work. I also didn’t feel valued, and I began to lose confidence in what I was doing.
At that time, I came across this quote that really resonated with me. “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” I rationalized that just because I wasn’t good at this job, it didn’t mean I wasn’t good at any job.
I put this same message out to job seekers today. Just because you were laid off, terminated, or quit a job - it doesn’t mean you aren’t a valuable asset somewhere else.
Get to know your genius really well. Find your value. Target companies who can benefit from what you bring to the table. Deliver that message in your job search consistently.
