Field Studies courses are a great way to get outdoors this summer while earning CSU-transferable credits and learning about history, ecology, geography, geology and more!
GEOG 102 is a field-base course featuring 8 days touring national parks and monument in Utah and Colorado.
BIO 109 is a field-based course covering the stomping grounds of John Muir in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
GEOL 186 is a field-based course exploring volcanic rock and lava beds in northern California.
Which course will you explore this summer?

Our family has been super sick since our company left so I probably won’t be getting much new work done this week either. Having fibromyalgia can be so frustrating because you look fine from the outside and some don’t even believe it’s real, however for me it means a nasty cold knocks me out. I get really depressed somedays because I can’t accomplish what I want to but other days I realize how lucky I am to have what I have. Today has not been so good, having feelings of uselessness and not being able to do what others do. This “Lava” photograph brings me back to my happiest place on earth, the Hawaiian Islands. I’m placing it in my Etsy shop for 30% off today and tomorrow so go check it out!
Had fun making #galaxy#lava & #snot#slime with clear glue today. We all def love the results better than the slimes we made using white glue. Photos do these no justice. All 3 are absolutely beautiful & very sparkly. We added black, purple, silver & turquiose glitter to the blue slime; added red, gold, orange & black glitter to the red slime & an assortment of all glitters to the green slime. #lifewithkids#familytime#familyovereverything#familyfun
Humans are a young species, and my little life abides in a very big place, where epochs glide by as swiftly as the mongoose. And strangely enough, when we put our human concerns into their proper, small place, we can turn our attention completely to the small things. To a cricket hidden in a crack of lava. To each other.
I am so eternally grateful for the parents of @lavasouth@lavanorth@lavaislandsvb@lavashackvb for selecting and allowing me to be their strength and endurance trainer and the parents @digcycle for allowing me and my crazy hot lava I have for training to develop their young crickets, 3 times a week every week for an hour. It has allowed me to return to an elementary place in thought, in training and in my life to train not only them but my own clients and myself from a youthful, happy, joyful, carefree point of view. Yet train them like budding professional athletes in a pressure free fun environment.
If you haven't heard about the kids program @digcycle in Calabasas don't miss the boat because it's growing fast and furious! I have @westhills_baseball players, LA Volleyball Academy girls, even budding NBA players being currently scouted. All ages welcome from elementary to College! Even if your kid isn't into sports, come drop off just for fun, socialization and gross motor skills! It's only $10 every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 4:15 or package pricing available. Drop off is HIGHLY encouraged and they're in great care of a crazy fun 42 year old ultrarunner, former teacher and Pro Athlete who has enough energy to outlast them all! Kids from all over the valley come! Also check out Los Angeles Volleyball Academy for your budding athlete! 🏐🏀⚾😅🏐🏀⚾😅🏐
