In 1581 the Spanish were getting reports of the Japanese trying to control Ilocos because the land had provisions that could not be found in their mother land. With the news, the Spanish formed a fleet to meet the Japanese. The first encounter with the Japanese was off the cost of Ilocos at Cabo del Bojeador (Cape Bojeador). A Japanese vessel had been pillaging villages off the coast, but was overcome by the Spanish and their superior gun power.
Hidden in the Cagayan River a large fleet of Japanese vessels was found and again the Japanese were devastatingly defeated with some sailing back to Japan and others disappearing into the interior of Luzon. So devastating was the defeat that the Japanese did not come to war in the Philippines again until World War 2.
The natives (Filipinos) who were fighting the Japanese also disappeared into the interior of Luzon. Their flight and the constant warring among native tribes gave the Spanish an easy foothold in the region.
Along the Cagayan River a native named Guib ruled the area with an army of about 300 men. When Guib had heard of the Spanish battle strength, he sent forth gifts of rice, chickens and hogs in an attempt at friendship. However, the other natives Guib and his men ruled over spoke evil about him to the Spanish and in an attempt to gain favor among the native people they caught Guib and hung him on a tree. However the execution had the opposite effect, now all the native peoples were at war with the Spanish.

ON FALLING IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE WHO IS ALREADY IN LOVE (but not with you)
I know this road like the back of my hand
Spent months holding on to this branch
Seemingly placed just for a surveillance
My roommates all slowly fall off
Especially when everything becomes
Auburn or orange or yellow
On that season called autumn-
Everyone just leaves
And someday I know I will
Let go of this tree as well.
The problem is,
When you fall in love,
You are not in control
It is like a college application
Where you present all your good credentials
But despite all of it,
With all your tough competitors,
All you have to do is wait.
It is their choice, in the end,
Whether or not they will accept you and
make you part of their institution.
But just as the seasons change
So will you and your feelings
You may be head-over-heels now
But in time, you will see
that it's just a waste of everything.
You will find it in yourself
That you are more than just someone
Who admires from the distance;
Who is conveniently there for them;
Who is always the plan b;
Who is just a good friend and nothing more.
Before the snow comes,
Your time of letting go will come as well
You will fall and it will hurt
But it is another view from here;
The smell of the earth,
The crisp feeling of freedom;
Then the wind will take you to someplace
That you never thought you could go.
I bid my farewell to you, old oak tree.
This is why I did not give you something to keep.
I do not mean to be kept by you.
I know you love her.
The one thing I pray is
For you to treasure her.
Good News... IT WORKED! Sunflower 🌻 Vibes made the sun☀️ shine bright for me this morning in #benguet! Can you spot Mt. Pulag in the background? It is the highest peak in #luzon. What an incredible feeling to listen to birds chirping, to breathe in clean air, and to watch the power of the sun rise over misty mountains! I AM SO OVERWHELMED! The beauty of the Cordilleras! #becomingfilipino#sunrise
If you are a tourist, it is better to avoid Manila, but if you are a traveler ,you should visit this city. One of the largest megacities of Southeast Asia. According to subjective feelings, modern Manila is very similar to cities such as Moscow or Los Angeles. Traffic jams in Manila are as much an integral part of life as in Moscow. It combines rich business districts, cultural and historical center, expensive residential areas and a whole quarter of the poor (Tondo) , which the police can not control and if you find yourself there, then 80 percent you will be without money and valuables, and if you have nothing to take, then you can be stabbed or killed ... A city where many people work for food, not money .
This is Noel. Firestarter. Here he is starting a fire solely with bamboo. It took him 4 mins. In a humid environment, that is not an simple task. But he did it with ease. He is from the Aeta tribe of central Luzon in the Philippines. He was with us the entire time filming and helped in an amazing amount of ways. He’s connected to the earth and knows the local jungle environment like a natural wizard. It was a pleasure working with this man. What he lacked in stature, he made up in knowledge and grace. #philippines#luzon#aeta#firestarter#smoke#nature#tribal#jungle#survival#television#travel#asia#media
Balut is a developing bird embryo (usually a duck) that is boiled and eaten from the shell. It originated from and is commonly sold as street food in the Philippines. The Tagalog and Malay word balot means "wrapped". The length of incubation before the egg is cooked is a matter of local preference, but generally ranges between 14 and 21 days. I ate this last night! It was pretty good, yum!! #balut#philippines#foodie#food#internationalfood#travel#embryo#salt#vinegar#luzon
