🐒 VARI LEMUR - MADAGASCAR 🐒
[English version below]
We have see this lemur several times during our trip in Madagascar. It is the "Black-and-white ruffed lemur". It is critically endangered of extinction and difficult to be seen in the wild. However, it is not difficult to take pictures of it because he loves to laze on its branch !
Have you ever seen a critically endangered animal in the wild ?
Pivotal decisions don’t always feel big. -
In fact in a lot of cases the most pivotal decision you’ll make is to wake up a half hour earlier, make a phone call, or go for a run. These are simple things that don’t appear to be life changing but when compounded over time make a huge difference. -
Just because it doesn’t feel like a life changing decision doesn’t mean it’s not. Most of the most pivotal moments are decided in the minutia. -
Be blessed and stay stoked😎🤙

Scientific name: Rhynocoris annulatus
Couple years ago I found my very first Assassin Bug, from my home and even though it was "just" a thread-legged assassin bug and not one of these more robust ones, it was still one of the highlights of my year.
This beautiful predator is now the 2nd Reduviid I've ever come across.
I found this one couple weeks ago. It landed right next to me on that rock as I was trying to take photos of Nomad bees in flight.
I immediately noticed what it was, because I had been trying to search them for years and that made me completely forget to switch camera settings, so "few" of my first shots came off really horrible and these 2 were the only ones that I managed to get before it flew off again.
Last Saturday I was at the same spot where I filmed the Evarcha falcata jumping spider that I posted last Sunday and I found 5!!! R. annulatus on that exact same spot where I was laying on the ground and filming the jumping spider.
I was following one with a prey on its proboscis, as it was flying and landing and flying and landing towards that spot. I wanted to get a photo of it feeding on a prey, but when I came to the area where the rest were, the one with the prey went under some moss and dead grasses etc and I got distracted by 3 of them above that mess, who were trying to size each other up. Eventually the 3 flew off and the 2 that were under the moss and grasses etc, stayed down there and never came out, so my fascination towards wildlife observation got the better of me there and I had no photos of the scene.
But now I know where they are and because that amount of them in one spot got me very curious, I'm going to go back there and will some day post a better post with more species detailed info about them.
I love impromptu adventures. This one day we got a group to drive to Coeur D’Alene, ID for Olive Garden for our friend Sebastian. Not kidding. The best part was kicking it w/ these amazing humans. Let’s go on more adventures. #fbf
sometimes i forget that one of my favorite parts about traveling is the people you meet along the way. it's been so fun to connect with people i've met at viewpoints along the road and in parking lots and on trails since i've been here. being a solo traveler has given me the chance to talk to and hike with all sorts of people i may not have met otherwise.
shoutout to the sweet family from georgia i met on this hike who let me trail behind them for all the creek crossings and took this stellar picture for me!
Peso is set FREE!!! It sure is nice to have our home back! As anyone who has ever shipped from one country to another knows that the process of getting your rig out of the port has you running around in circles from one office to another for one stamp or signature or approval of some sort, just to return again after another round of signatures and stamps. After 3 days of this we finally got to drive Peso out of the port. Thank you to everyone who helped us set Peso free! Now the real question is where do we begin to explore in Colombia?
Life is golden. Make a wish! Happy Birthday Tim! It's Gemini season.
Don't let the forecast spoil good plans. If I listened to the weather predictions, I wouldn't live my life in the moment. I may have missed this epic sunset last night if I didn't risk and take a chance that the storm clouds would blow away. I'm not saying go unprepared. Always have a back up plan just in case.⠀
If you wander over to my Pinterest boards, I can give you some good examples of how rain can be just as magical during your couple session or wedding. No matter what, we will get some killer photos. Embrace the uncertainty and focus on the moment. Worrying about the weather will only stress you out. We don't have control over Mother Nature. ⠀
See how this one photo can look completely different. There are so many ways to edit photos and that's why I create a piece of art with each image I touch. You never know how it can be seen differently and I wouldn't want to outsource my editing process.⠀
Thank you for your patience while I edit each of my photo sessions that's in the queue. I promise it's worth the wait. ❤
