Recently in Odd Things Animals Have Been Doing In And Around My Flat!™ 🌳🐝🐿️ My poor rose bush had been savaged by leaf-cutter wasps these past few weeks. Literally every leaf had a chunk missing. I've been worried it wasn't going to make because we've had such ridiculously warm weather lately but it seems to have perked back up over the weekend. But anyway, then I found this delicate little desiccated rose leaf cigarillo lodged between the brick work. It really is beautiful. They're very clever little beasties. Speaking of beasties, I managed to get a photo of my upstairs neighbours chilling in the tree. They're pretty shy and boundaries have had to have been enforced when it comes garden snacking but apart from that we get on quite well 😊
Spent the long weekend up in east Gippsland’s ancient forests. It is one of the most diverse temperate forest ecosystems on earth. Unfortunately, the outdated practice of logging is rapidly reducing habitat in which many endangered species depend on their survival. #greatergliders , #tinyfeathertailedglider , #ringtailedpossum , #powerfulowls , #maskedowls and #sootyowls are amongst the few important species relying on these trees. Some of the trees are even over 100 years old. Yet these trees are logged and are turned into wood chips and mostly exported to Japan. This industry also does not provide many jobs and without it, the value of water and tourism would increase. Logging here loses up to $5.5 million of taxpayers money a year. The stat-owned logging agency VicForests regularly breach environmental laws by logging in protected forest sites. Please avoid #reflexpaper as they support VicForest. Be careful of logos that may elude you that a product is made from sustainable logging practices because many are made up and have no legitimacy. It was an honour to spend some time camping amongst these trees at the Goongerah campgrounds. To help out check out GECO (Goongerah environment centre) and @ethicalpaper
So yesterday we saved two baby possums who fell from the tree right as we walked by!
After looking for Mum we unfortunately found her restricted by a python.
As heart breaking as the whole experience was, it was hands on education. For my daughter and myself.
The circle of life, we had to stand back and let nature take its course and I’m grateful we were there just at the right time to save her babes 🌿
I love living in nature 🍂
They just keep coming 🤷🏼♀️a chorus of angry birds alerted me to this poor little fellow, a very young Ring Tailed Possum. He/she should have been asleep somewhere with family during the day, not hanging out in our backyard. Fingers crossed he/she finds a way back to where he/she belongs tonight. #ringtailedpossum#bluemountainsaustralia
Very excited to share this beautiful watercolour by @suzirowleydesigns. She’s captured the theme perfectly, child health, fun, wildlife with a local feel. This will be given out on my appointment cards, can’t wait to see them in print 💕💗🙌🏻
