They just keep coming 🤷🏼♀️a chorus of angry birds alerted me to this poor little fellow, a very young Ring Tailed Possum. He/she should have been asleep somewhere with family during the day, not hanging out in our backyard. Fingers crossed he/she finds a way back to where he/she belongs tonight. #ringtailedpossum#bluemountainsaustralia
Had the pleasure of saving this little baby this arvo thanks to Emma's swift compassion towards scaring the crow away that had the possom cornered. It ended up hiding inside Emma's car wheel which is when i arrived, pulled it out, and calmed it down for a bit. Shortly after, we spotted the babys Mum in the tree close by. I put the baby in the tree to see Mumma and baby climb towards each other followed by the baby being cleaned and sheltered by the Mum. Gotta say it was a great feeling.
Very excited to share this beautiful watercolour by @suzirowleydesigns. She’s captured the theme perfectly, child health, fun, wildlife with a local feel. This will be given out on my appointment cards, can’t wait to see them in print 💕💗🙌🏻
One of our local Ring-tailed Possums “Dudley” came to visit, I think looking for the water we leave out for the birds on hot days. Went out to give him (possibly her) some apple. He’s a pretty chilled dude. Piper was so excited she didn’t even bark. Just did a good impression of a stuffed dog. @piper_and_mathilda_adventures#dogsofinstagram#ringtailedpossum#australia
I wanted to share this beautiful interaction with nature that happened recently whilst walking with @reneeandklex .
Yes! That is a #possum on my head! .
Whilst walking along I noticed this little baby #ringtailedpossum in some trouble - it was 30 degrees and daylight ☀️Being nocturnal this didn’t seem right. He was being circled by birds and was in a dangerous position in an off lead dog area next to the #merricreek .
I wasn’t sure what to do, but wanted to move him somewhere, so I reached down and within a split second he ran up my arm and tried to make a home in my hair! 😂
It was SO FREAKING CUTE! He eventually decided my hat was a good place to hang out. Many people walked by but the only person that noticed was an American tourist - who obviously thought I was the Steve Irwin of non-scary animals 😂
Long story short, I was advised by @wildlifevictoria to take this little guy to a Vet which would then find him a carer with other young possums. I eventually put him in my shirt and he slept as I walked him to the car (last photo).
In 2-3 months he will be released back to where I found him.
I drew a map and left my number. 🤞🏼 Hope they call me - I want to be there! .
I named him Bruce. 💚
Found this little cutie lost in a bush near my home today.. I heard a strange sound and saw this baby ring tail possum struggling to climb up a reed-like bush. It seemed like it was calling me and trying to get my attention.. 😕
I hesitated and waited near it for a while hoping it’s mother would come back for it, but after calling and speaking with the local animal rescue I scooped it up in my sock and looked after it until the rescue service came to take it to the sanctuary.💚 Apparently they’re known to actively seek out help, and as soon as I picked it up it clung to my chest and didn’t want to let go ☹️ Not gonna lie, I kind of wanted to keep the little fellow. I even called it Gizmo. 🤗
