These days, we're thinking of the approaching spring and the opening of our garden for dinners. During this quiet time, though, we're also spending a few moments remembering the snow-filled fields back in Wisconsin. #wisconsin #racine #spicollective #eatwith #eatwithitaly #pugliaview #insta_salento #lecce #salentogustolecce #horses #simplelife #wisconsinwinter

At the Kumbh Mela.

Over 120 million people visit this festival over the period of 60 days every year. It's the largest peaceful gathering in the world. Hindus gather here to take bath in the holy river.nAccording to medieval Hinduism, Lord Vishnu spilled drops of Amrita (the drink of immortality) at four places, while transporting it in a kumbha (pot). These four places are identified as the present-day sites of the Kumbh Mela. These are Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain. The name "Kumbh Mela" literally means "kumbha fair". It is known as "Kumbh" in Hindi also in Sanskrit and some other Indian languages; it is more often known by its original name "Kumbha" It has been inscribed on the UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Ash-smeared and dreadlocked Naga sadhus or Hindu ascetics, naked except for rosary beads and garlands and smoking wooden pipes, are a huge draw at the world's largest religious festival.

One of the few narrow gauge lines across India.
Gwalior light railway or Maharaja Railway is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow-gauge railway in Gwalior. It was setup for Gwalior state during the times of #British #India. It was built by the then Maharaja Madho Rao Scindia of #Gwalior state. It connects the town of Gwalior to Sheopur. It takes about 11 hours to cover just 200 Kms. Passengers literally get 'on' the train since the number of passengers commuting is high. #indianrailways
