So much of this week has been a whirlwind, and one of the constants that has gotten me through is the love and support of family, friends and acquaintances. Kindness and compassion makes everything bearable. I’m so grateful to have been reminded that even in the toughest times, you have to be there for one another. This experience is reaffirming how important relationships are - to be there for others and to accept love & support #love#support#grief#grieving#life#death#family#friends#acquaintances#kindness#comfort#gratitude
Sometimes living with an IBD is the fucking pits. But through my journey and my life since diagnosis (at 15) - I’ve learned a lot, I’ve experienced a lot, and I’ve continued to persevere. Hope and positivity will keep you going through what feels like the darkest times, and having a support system is crucial. I’m grateful for this journey and my life because even with an IBD it’s incredibly beautiful. HAPPY WORLD IBD DAY.
SHOUT OUT TO MY MOMMA! A cancer survivor and fellow spoonie whose strength and guidance has inspired me through many of my own trying times. ••••
And to everyone out there with an IBD. I’m proud of you and support you - let’s keep moving forward!!! 💜
I'm on my way home from California, where I got to play at Disneyland and the beach for a week! ☀️
I never thought I'd struggle with seasonal affective disorder, because I love cold weather and I LOVE snow! But I noticed this past year that I get down so fast when the sun stops shining.
According to my weather app, I am coming home to SOOO MANY rainy days in the next two weeks 😩 so I'm making an action plan to prevent the blues from happening as best as I can:
-HEALTHY FOOD! Lots of plants this week. Lots of vitamins, lots of color.
-Happy music: Even though I absolutely love it, sad music can make me deeply depressed in SECONDS. We are having NONE of that the next two weeks 😆
-Funny movies: I try not to watch lots of tv/movies, especially with my kids. But being bored and miserable every day is worse, so Disney, here we come! -Day trips: there's no way I'm gonna survive this with cabin fever, so we'll be visiting the aquarium, the library, the toy store, whatever!
Clinical depression and bipolar disorder are not situational. But there ARE triggers. Finding and recognizing mine the past three years has been monumental for me. If you know yours, do your best to prevent and combat them!! Praying we all have a safe and healthy week 🙏🏻💕 #bipolar#depression#anxiety#mania#safety#therapy#support#health#mentalhealth#mentalillness#love#hope#growth#realtalk#growthmindset
With sadness, we are sharing a message we received from @brooklynfoodporn : “I am contacting people because I am soliciting donations towards my mothers cancer treatment. I believe in reaching out to your community to get a helping hand and anything would help. She was diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer that has a reputation for always relapsing and coming back with a vengeance. Her best shot is a treatment that is not covered by her insurance. Anything you could give would be amazing (even a dollar!) I’m really just stepping out on faith here and hoping that I can reach some people in the spirit to give.” Everything is on the link in our bio. Thanks for even reading. 💛

As we continue our Mental Health Awareness Series, I am excited to welcome back, Tylia Flores, author, writer & cerebral palsy advocate.
Tylia Flores is a 23-year-old born with cerebral palsy. Although her condition has affected her mobility, it has never affected her will and determination to make a difference in the world. Through her many life challenges and obstacles, she discovered her passion for writing. Tylia’s goal in life is to share her stories with the world. In doing so, she hopes to help others with disabilities realize that they, too, have the potential to make their dreams come true.
Join us tomorrow Monday, May 20th at 4pm(cst)/5pm(est) as Tylia & I explore & discuss mental health for those with medical conditions, chronic illness/pain & different abilities. #mentalhealth#mentalillness#mentalhealthawareness#may#realconvo#letstalk#listen#help#support#education#chronicpain#chronicillness#differentabilities#podcast#broadcast#tomorrow#theonairadvocate
This is Carel. Carel quickly went from client to family when she called us years ago needing support around her pregnancy. Her situation felt difficult at the time but Carol has flourished as a mother and has now shared her story to countless people. We were so fortunate to here from Carol at our Low Tea where she was vulnerable and shared her inspiring story to over 100 people. ⠀
Thank you @carel_khairo for being brave and willing to help us help more women and their families. She is her hero. And you can be too.⠀
P.S. A word of advice for our dear mammas is: you are so much stronger than you know. ⠀
