This is the beginning stage of what will soon be an exposed concrete hearth, fire box, mantle, and chase situated as the centre peace of the house. 🔥
The mantle cantelevers past the fire box to create the feel of a floating slab. 🎩
The lower formwork will stay in place for a month until the 4” concrete mantle cures up. And so we wait... ⏱
When all else fails, love will pull you through. When your clothes are wet and your sleeping bag stinks, when your roll mat has a hole in it and your hands are blistered and bleeding, when your face is wind chapped and you can’t walk because of inflamed swollen feet, love is the only thing that will get you dancing around the fire. It’s the only thing that will get you hobbling on your feet which are almost falling off, dancing with energy that you don’t have, and smiling with joy you didn’t know was there. #fundementalhappiness
When We Do The Work To Heal and Make Sense Of Our Unresolved Past To Improve Our Mental Health, It Doesn’t Only Benefit Ourselves, It Benefits Each Other, Our Children, Our Future Children, And Our Children’s Children. This Is How We Change The World. - Rachel Samson
Throwback to one of my first and favourite shots, an encounter that really got me hooked on photography, which is appropriate enough for the #natgeo100contest. I met this guy on a wharf in Victoria, and apparently he and his one eye have a bit of a following! Many people have since reached out and told me about seeing this guy around Vancouver island and the San Juans in the Pacific Northwest.
