Not many tribute acts in the watch world can manage to echo so many references in one watch and not come across as somewhat cheesy, yet this Tudor Pelagos LHD M25610TNL is an excellent example of what a tribute piece can look like when done right. The point when the new meets the old on this piece is absolutely spot on, and it’s such a joy to have this watch in my collection. 😊

What seems like a hundred years ago, I wanted to add a perpetual calendar to my collection; I finally narrowed the choice down to the DeBethune DB25 or the Urban Jurgensen reference 3. I loved the 3 dimensional moon on the DB25 but finally realised that I couldn’t live with a manual wind perpetual calendar and so plumped for the UJ and I have never regretted it for a moment. The underdial perpetual calendar module designed by Derek Pratt is a masterpiece and the exquisite multiple patterned guilloche dial was also produced by Derek, or perhaps by his business partner and friend, Peter Baumberger, who were the only two people at UJ who ever worked the 19th Century Rose Engine (sometimes called a geometric lathe) needed to produce these dials. The hands are also handmade in house, something that few firms outside Seiko can say. It is still one of my favourite watches and one which I can never think of getting rid of.
