Joy comes from places you least expect it. It's usually the simple things, like going through Central Park when the blossoms are blooming
to get this pic I woke up before sunrise and hang there til I like my light ♥️🌸
Our girl Chelsea has grapefruit + mango in it which is surprisingly musky but also curiously fruity 🙃 PSA: If you haven’t watered your air plants this week, stop whatever you’re doing right now and soak them for an hour! And use YOMOMMA for 25% off your next order 👩🏻🔬 #chelsea#newyorkcity 📸 @joe_pepin
I want to give a shout out and a thanks to the amazing rangers and staff at Sam’s Point/Minnewaska State Park. Yesterday, I brought two of my high school biology classes here and the staff did a fantastic job of showing them ecological concepts like adaptations and succession. They also did a whole lesson on fire ecology and how wildfires can be fought. The pitch pines on the Shawangunk Ridge have cones that only open up and release their seeds under high heat. The hands on lessons the staff prepared, the engaging props, and their caring way of teaching high school students who (some) have never hiked before was well appreciated! Some of my students had no idea or concept of leave no trace or human impact on the environment ( that’s next unit!), but when the guidelines were explained they all understood why those guidelines are enforced.
A subpeak of Manitou Mountain shows the Hudson River squeezing into the Highlands corridor. The formidable Dunderberg Mountain forms the opposing bank, with Indian Point Energy Center and the Palisades lurking in distance. @proactiveahw
