Louie “The Garbage Collector”

Things Louie tried to pick up (and take home with us) or eat off the ground today:
💫 GoGurt container
💫 plastic water bottle
💫 granola bar wrapper
💫 milk container
💫 a glove
💫 small tree (large branch)
@axiomcomposting you hiring?
I honestly had no idea people still littered this much. At Beacon Hill Park, no less! Do you know how lucky we are to live here? Pull it together litter bugs. Louie can’t keep picking up after you.
Having a cozy day hiding away from the rain, watching YouTube and doing non-stop laundry (note all the chunky knits that I'm still having to wear every dang day 😤). I hope yours is a bit more eventful than mine 😂
Join our baby and caregiver walking group every Tuesday morning for a walk around the neighbourhood. This is a great way to meet other caregivers in your community while getting some exercise (especially after all that Easter chocolate)! We meet at the Oaklands Community Centre between 9-9:15 am, the walk begins at 9:20 am. Expect a 30-40 minute walk and stay for coffee, tea, and conversation.
It’s on days like today that I am grateful I am “just” a bookkeeper and don’t do taxes. I do everything else and I get you ready for tax time so it’s not such a panic. My taxes are done and now I’m packing to go to one of my favourite places - French Beach Provincial Park. Much needed unwind time. I’m originally from Northern Alberta so sometimes I like to rough it and camp in the cold. Pic is from Thanksgiving 2018. It was cold and beautiful. Can’t wait to get back. May you all have a wonderful Easter! #camping#frenchbeachprovincialpark#timewithfriends#yyj

It was a fun and fruitful trip this week with the Nouvel Housing team!
We travelled to Salt Spring Island to see one of our upcoming development sites and we’re incredibly excited to share more about this, and other projects in the upcoming months.
Follow along to be the first to know about updates as we bring attainable and sustainable housing solutions to Vancouver Island 👋🤗
Doug Hilton's unique approach to healing combines EMDR with Chi Kung for a new holistic solution to emotional issues. Pegasus' clients report, even after just one session with Doug, feeling a sense of release, relief, and congruence within their nervous system. They also appreciate being able to have self-healing tools to take with them, to continue the healing process beyond the individual session.
Doug believes in the importance of taking into account the cycles and energetic pileup that can occur in addiction. His approach offers clear, step-by-step instructions on how to tap into our natural healing mechanisms to clear and transform blockages in our energetic pathways. This approach, also known as "Taoist Emotional Recycling" arises from a combination of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) with the Universal Healing Tao System of Chi Kung principles and practices.
Integrating elements of the EMDR protocol into the Universal Healing Tao Chi Kung System allows for some important fine-tuning of the technique. The new approach provides more emphasis on the body and a more systematic way of thoroughly processing the pileup of emotional baggage that is stored in the rivers and streams of the body.
This integration and synthesis allows practitioners to have more of an understanding of how EMDR works and how continued used of the approach in combination with other healthy routines can create a lasting sense of well-being.
This approach is suitable for both prevention and treatment. Working with the vital energies of the body provides viable ways to resolve the seemingly irreconcilable issues and destructive cycles inside of us.
Doug Hilton is a Registered Clinical Counsellor; he has been working in the field since 1992. Over time he has specialized in working with children, teens, adults and seniors in small communities and bigger centres. Doug has worked exclusively trauma, addictions including problem gambling, behavioural issues and psychiatric conditions.
Doug utilizes his training in EMDR, EFT, Hypnosis in his work with clients. He is also a certified Chi Kung instructor (since 1994) and practitioner.

FAILURE IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS
Improvement at anything is based on thousands of tiny failures and the magnitude of your success is based on how many times you’ve failed.
If you find that someone is better than you at something it’s because most likely that person has failed at that same thing more times than you.
Take going to the gym.
We go to the gym to fail.
We are pushing our muscles to the point of failure, but our bodies will adapt and grow so we no longer fail at that same thing.
So that we improve at it.
Become better at it.
Think about a child who is learning how to walk, the kids going to fall down and hurt themselves time and time again.
At no point does that child stop and think “walking isn’t for me, I am not good at it”.
Failure is what let’s us become better than before.
Don’t be afraid to fail, it might just be one of the best things to happen to you!
This is a big one that I know we ALL put off till tomorrow. Some of us work through our shit better than others, but some of us don't remember what it's like to go on a journey with the purpose of living a life free of internal battles. We need to admit when we have anxiety, inner conflict, conflicts with others, bad thoughts creeping in, consistently unhealthy, or sick.
We are powerfu beinhsl and looking back if I hadn't taken on the things in the way I chose to things could be a whole lot worse. If you make a habit of keeping your thoughts in order through practicing good mental health you can be the champion of your life. Sometimes cleaning out the "attic" can look like a big task. But it is rewarding and educational looking at your past and fix up some of the bad habits that are holding you back.
And when that attack is cleared out there is so much room for activities!!! We open up space for people in our lives. We find energy, purpose, self love, compassion, kindness, and Passion. And damn does it feel great to live this way.
To those who struggle to do this, it's normal and it's ok. I'm not saying you have to do this, but I am saying it's rewarding AND I am saying there's a better way.
When the "attic" is all cleaned out it's easy to maintain. Just dust every now and then so you can enjoy the space.
